Week of March 1-5

Theme: Dinosaurs

Activities for the week:
  • We will learn the letter A in handwriting.
  • Participate in a dinosaur excavation in Science.
  • Read dinosaur stories, play games and learn about volcanoes during group time.
  • In Religion we will learn that when we pray, we are talking to God. We will make our own prayer books.
  • Play in dino land in Dramatic Play.
  • Dig for dinosaurs in the Sensory Table.
  • In the Block center we will play with plastic dinosaurs and wood blocks.
  • Begin to recognize and write the number 9 in Math.
  • Make dinosaur skeleton pictures in Art.

Other Information:

We have a new student. Alex will be in our Tues./Thurs. class. Welcome to our class Alex!!

Week of February 22 - 26

Theme: Olympics

Activities for the week:
  • We will have our own Olympic opening and closing ceremonies. Participate in many different Olympic games during group time.
  • Learn the letter K in handwriting.
  • In Religion we will learn what a missionary is and what they do using a program from the Columban Missions called Vinny's New Day.
  • We will make Olympic flags and torches in Art.
  • Dramatic Play will be the Olympic Ice Arena where we can play ice hockey, figure skate or speed skate.
  • In the Sensory table we will search for gold, silver and bronze in the snow (packing peanuts).
  • Begin to recognize and write the number 8 in Math.

Week of February 16-19

Theme: Five Senses

Activities for the week:
  • We will learn the letter R in handwriting.
  • Discover that Lent is a time to grow in love for God and others. Go to Mass on Ash Wednesday.
  • Make a five senses booklet in Art.
  • Pretend to work in an animal hospital in Dramatic Play.
  • Play with sensory gloves (latex gloves filled with rice, playdough, sand, etc.) in the Sensory table. These are fun to squish.
  • Use our sense of touch to explore feeling boxes in Science.
  • Learn about each of our senses through various group activities. (sight-play I Spy, hearing-listen to a tape of common sounds, taste - taste foods that are sweet, salty and sour, smell - smelling jars filled with various scents)
  • Eat king cake and celebrate Mardi Gras.
  • Learn to recognize and write the number 7 in Math.

Other Information:

Tuesday, Feb. 16th - Happy Mardi Gras!!

Wednesday, Feb. 17th - we will attend Mass with our 6th grade buddies.

Week of February 8 - 11

Theme: Valentines

Activities for the week:
  • Learn the letter B in handwriting.
  • Have a Valentine party in Dramatic Play.
  • Listen to our hearbeat with a stethoscope in Science.
  • Estimate the number of candy hearts in Math.
  • Decorate sacks for our Valentine party in Art.
  • Search for red items hidden in red crinkle paper in the Sensory Table.
  • In Religion we will discover that when we help others we show love to God.
  • During group time we will play a true or false game, practice following directions by completing a worksheet and play a heart rhyming game.

Thank you to Mrs. Nedvidek and Mrs. Basso for helping in the classroom during the Teacher Apppreciation lunch!!

Tues., Feb. 9th - class picture day. MWF children may join us at 8:50am in the gym. Please wear your uniform.

Wed., Feb. 10th- pizza lunch day. Please bring your money if you haven't already done so.

Thurs., Feb. 11th - Valentine Party at 1:00pm in the classroom. MWF children are welcome to attend. Parents are also welcome. Please send 25 valentines for your child to share with the class.

Fri., Feb. 12th - No School - Teacher In-Service Day

Sat., Feb. 13th - Kindergarten testing for those who signed up.

Looking ahead to next week (Feb. 16-19):

Mon. Feb. 15th - No School - President's Day

Wed., Feb. 17th - Ash Wednesday - we will attend Mass with our buddies.

100 Days of School

We had a great 100 day celebration with special hats, cake and lots of fun!!

Activities for the week:


  • We will learn the letter P in handwriting.
  • Discover the different ways we can pray in Religion.
  • Explore magnets in Science.
  • Participate in some games to help learn opposites and positional words.
  • Practice recognizing and writing the numbers 1-6 in Math.

Mon., Feb. 1st - crazy sock day
Tues., Feb. 2nd - Talent Show, Jupiter Jump
Wed., Feb. 3rd - PJ day and bring pennies for the penny wars
Thurs., Feb. 4th - wear your favorite/team shirt and Family Lunch Day
Fri., Feb. 5th - crazy hat day
