Week of August 30 - September 3

Theme: Forest Friends

Activities for the Week:
  • We will draw Mat Man in Handwriting.
  • Paint a watercolor forest scence in Art.
  • String cheerios onto a pipe cleaner to make animal feeders in Science.
  • Play with small wooden logs in Blocks.
  • Pretend to camp out under the stars in Dramatic Play.
  • Play with small animals, pine cones, small trees and rocks in the Sensory Table.
  • Match number cards with cards that contain objects in Math.
  • Learn about Smokey the Bear and read some stories during Group Time.
Other Information:

In your child folder you will find the four kids that go with our Religion program. These are for your child to keep at home. Their names are Ming (boy holding soccer ball), Keesha (girl holding book), Adam (boy holding puppy) and Nina (ballerina).

Week of August 23 - 27

Theme: Family and Friends

Activities for the Week:
  • Learn that Jesus is our friend in Religion.
  • Make family trees in Art.
  • Learn how to make Mat Man in handwriting.
  • Sort and count plastic teddy bears in Math.
  • Compare eye color, hair color and thumbprints with a friend in Science.
  • Play with a Little People playset in Blocks.
  • Explore sand in the Sensory Table.
  • Play with babies in Dramatic Play.
  • Make a class graph of the number of people in our families and listen to stories during Group Time.
Other Information:

Show and Tell begins this week. Check your back to school packet for your child's assigned day.

Ice Cream Day is Wednesday and Thursday (for TTH children).

Week of August 16-20

Theme: Manners

Activities for the week:
  • In Art we will decorate manners posters. After they are done we will hang them in our classroom.
  • During group time we will listen to some stories, learn some songs and act out ways to show good manners.
  • Experiment with locks and keys in Science.
  • Play number lotto in Math.
  • Build with brick blocks.
  • Explore the wood pieces that will form our letters in Handwriting.
  • Pretend to work in or visit the Subway Restaurant. Here we can practice good manners.
  • Use our fine motor skills to explore unpopped popcorn in the Sensory Table.
  • Match large foam letters to the letters on our classroom rug as a Language activity.
  • We will listen to Bible stories in Religion.

Other Information:

Monday, August 16th - Back to School Night at 6:00-7:30pm in the Church.

Looking ahead to next week (August 23 - 27):

We will begin Show and Tell this week. Find your child's assigned Show and Tell day in your Back to School Night information packet.
