Week of April 4 - 8

Theme: Insects Activities of the Week:

  • Learn the letter W in Handwriting.

  • Discover that we can pray everyday with our friends and families in Religion.

  • Make colorful caterpillars in Art.

  • Learn about the life cycle of a butterfly in Science.

  • Create simple patterns in Math using colored bugs.

  • Play with Waffle Blocks.

  • Participate in Insect Puppet Play in Dramatic Play.

  • Search for insects in the grass (green fiber fill) in the Sensory Table.

  • Learn some songs, play a letter recognition game called Swat!, and listen to the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar during Group Time.

Other Information:


Thurs., April 7th - Spring School Pictures - wear church clothes.

Week of March 28 - April 1

Theme: Wild West Activities for the Week:

  • Learn the letter N in Handwriting.

  • Share prayers of thanks with God in Religion

  • Make Cowboy Hat Headbands in Art.

  • Experiment with a lockbox and locks and keys in Science.

  • Practice number recognition and counting (6-10) with zipper pouches in Math.

  • Play with a train set in Blocks.

  • Use stencils to make a Wild West picture and dictate a sentence to go with the picture.

  • Have a pretend cowboy campout and trail ride in Dramatic Play.

  • Pan for gold in the Sensory Table.

  • Learn about horses, listen to some stories and participate in Wild West Campfire Fun during Group Time.

Other Information:


Thurs., March 31 and Fri., April 1 - Wild West Free Dress - children may wear jeans, boots, etc.


If you have a stick horse we could borrow, please send it to school by Wednesday, March 30th. Thanks!

Week of March 21 - 25

Theme: Dinosaurs

Activities for the Week:
  • Learn the letter M in Handwriting.
  • Learn that each of us is special and our bodies belong to us in Religion.
  • Uncover and examine dinosaur fossils in Science.
  • Stamp and count dinosaurs to complete our 10 Dazzling Dinosaurs booklet in Math.
  • Play with small plastic dinosaurs and wood blocks in the Block Center.
  • Play in Dino Land in Dramatic Play.
  • Dig for dinosaurs in the Sensory Table.
  • Listen to stories and watch a volcano erupt during Group Time.
Other Information: Welcome to our new friend Laurin. She will be joining us on Tuesday and Thursday.

Week of March 7 - 11

Theme: St. Patrick's Day

Activities for the Week:
  • Learn the letter V in Handwriting.
  • Learn that Ash Wednesday is the beginning of Lent and attend Mass with our 6th grade buddies in Religion.
  • Make Spicy Shamrocks in Art.
  • Grow an alligator in Science.
  • Complete a story about a leprechaun.
  • Have a pretend St. Patrick's Day party in Dramatic Play.
  • Dig for gold in the Sensory Table.
  • Read some stories and play some games during Group Time.
Other Information:
Tuesday, March 8th - Catholic Schools Day - 8:30am will be the talent show in the gym and then at 11:30 we will have Family Lunch. (see Wed. packet for details)

Wednesday, March 9th - Ash Wednesday - we will attend Mass with our 6th grade buddies.

Week of February 28 - March 4

Theme: Circus

Activities for the Week:
  • Learn the letter A in Handwriting.
  • Learn that there are many ways to pray by listening to the story "David Sang His Prayers" in Religion.
  • Make paper plate elephants in Art.
  • Play a game of Chutes and Ladders in Math.
  • Play with large circus and wood blocks in the Block center.
  • Experiment with unpopped popcorn and water in Science.
  • Pretend to be circus clowns, jugglers or animal trainers in Dramatic Play.
  • Play with small plastic animals and popcorn kernels in the Sensory Table.
  • Watch a circus video while eating popcorn, listen to some stories and perform some circus stunts during Group Time.
Other Information:

Tuesday, March 1st - class pictures at 8:50am. If this is not your child's regular day to attend school, you can meet us in the gym for the picture. Remember to dress your child in uniform.

Wednesday, March 2nd - pizza lunch day. Don't forget your money!

Week of February 21 - 25

Theme: Five Senses

Activities for the Week:
  • Learn the letter K in Handwriting.
  • Discover that Jesus gives himself to us in Holy Communion in Religion.
  • Make a five senses book in Art.
  • Use the sense of touch to explore feeling boxes in Science.
  • Practice number recognition and counting (6-10) with textured numbers and colorful counters in Math.
  • Manipulate gloves filled with sand, popcorn, etc. in the Sensory Table.
  • Play an I Spy game, listen to a sounds tape, explore smelling jars, taste foods that are salty, sweet, sour and bitter, and go on a texture hunt during Group Time.

Other Information:

Please remember to sign and return your child's Growth Inventory as soon as possible. You will be able to keep them at the end of the year. Thanks.

Week of February 14-18

Theme: Bears/Valentine's

Activities for the week:
  • Learn the letter R in Handwriting.
  • Learn that Valentine's Day is a time to celebrate love for family and friends in Religion.
  • Make a brown bear in Art using paint and ground coffee.
  • Create a simple pattern using gummy bears in Math.
  • Use a balancing scale to weigh plastic bears in Science.
  • Have a teddy bear Valentine picnic in Dramatic Play.
  • Explore various colorful bears in the Sensory Table.
  • Have a bear snack (berries and goldfish), listen to stories about bears, and listen to the story of The Three Bears from our reading program (Happily Ever After) during Group Time.

Other Information:

Monday, Feb. 14th - Valentine's Day party 1:00-2:00pm - please send 23 Valentine cards to school with your child. Please have them sign their name only, do not address to individual friends. Parents are welcome to attend.

Acitivities for the Week:

We will continue the lessons from last week that we were not able to complete due to the snow days.

Other Information:

Parent/Teacher conferences have been canceled and we will have school this Friday, Feb. 11th.
If you need to have a conference, please let me know and we can schedule one either before or after school.

Monday, Feb. 14 - Happy Valentine's Day - please send 23 valentines to school with your child to share with their friends. Please just have your child sign their name, don't address to individual friends.

  • Learn about Baptism in Religion.
  • Experiment with magnets in Science.
  • Play a 123 board game in Math.
  • Pretend to be a teacher or student at school in Dramatic Play.
  • Explore various colorful wooden shapes in the Sensory Table.
  • Play with Legos in Blocks.
  • Have a songfest, read some stories, and play a game to learn positional words during Group Time.

  • Manipulate and explore sand, rocks, and plastic astronauts in the Sensory Table.
  • Celebrate the 100th day of school, listen to some books, play a Blast Off! game, sing the Blue's clues planet song and take a pretend trip to the moon during Group Time.

  • Search for small white items hidden in the snow (packing peanuts).
  • Write in the snow (shaving cream), learn about penquins, and complete a listen and do worksheet during Group Time.

  • Build with empty food boxes in Blocks.
  • Play with the kitchen and babies in Dramatic Play.
  • Explore various types of beans in the Sensory Table.
  • Listen to some stories, learn how to take care of our teeth, and learn who Martin Luther King, Jr. was during Group Time.
Other Information:

Remember to send a coat with your child, because we will go outside unless it is below freezing.

Remember to sign up your child for Kindergarten testing if you haven't already.
